City Council Recognizes Eagle Scout for ADA Compliant GaGa Ball Arena Project

Cottage Grove, Minn. – June 8, 2018 – The Cottage Grove City Council recognized David Mueller, Troop 286, for his achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout at their June 6, 2018, City Council Meeting.

The City Council present David Mueller from Troop 286 with a plaque that will be hung in city hall alongside other plaques of Eagle Scout and Girl Scout Gold Award recipients from the City of Cottage Grove.

David’s Eagle Scout project consisted of building an ADA Compliant GaGa Ball Arena in Hamlet Park, so that anyone and everyone can play the game. Ga-Ga Ball is a game similar to dodgeball, it is played in a hexagon, or sometimes octagonal, arena with walls. Instead of throwing the ball at opponents like in dodgeball, the ball must be bounced off the ground or the wall of the arena. Once the ball strikes an opponent below the waist, the player is out and must leave the arena.

The Council recognized David for taking on a leadership role in our community, and for helping to make Cottage Grove a recreation destination by adding something new and different to one of our many parks.
