City Seeks Nominations for Annual Green Garden Award

Cottage Grove, MN – June 29, 2018 –The City of Cottage Grove is seeking nominations for its annual Green Garden Award.  Residents may nominate themselves, or their favorite gardener or organization for the award.  Nominations are due by 4 p.m. on Friday, July 20. 

All nominated properties must be within Cottage Grove. The commercial category includes al Cottage Grove organizations such as businesses, churches, schools, or nonprofits. Contestants may not win in consecutive years. Winners will be announced at a City Council meeting in August. 

The 2018 categories and judging criteria are:

  • Residential Entryway – Based on overall appearance from the street.
  • Residential Container Design – Based on overall container and/or potted plants.
  • Residential or Commercial Overall – the overall appearance, plant variety and arrangement, uniqueness, creativity, environmental aesthetics, and upkeep of the entire garden.

A nomination form can be downloaded at www.cottagegrovemn.gov, under Parks Department, or picked up at Cottage Grove Public Works, 8635 West Point Douglas Road.
