Biography

Council Member Justin Olsen joined the city council in 2009. His belief in the importance of serving others led him to serve on various city commissions and community organizations prior to his election. These opportunities gave Councilmember Olsen extensive knowledge of how the city operates.

Memberships 

Councilmember Olsen served for over 4 years on the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Commission and was the vice chair of the Economic Development Authority. He is a past president of the Cottage Grove Strawberry Festival Committee. Currently, he is the vice chair of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, board member and vice president of the Cottage Grove Lions Club, member of the Cottage Grove Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, is a longtime CGAA youth baseball and softball coach and is a business mentor for DECA & Junior Achievement high school students.

Professional Experience

Council Member Olsen has over 30 years of multi-unit business management experience in a variety of retail and wholesale industry sectors.

Personal Life

Council Member Olsen has been a resident of Cottage Grove for over 40 years . He is a Park High School graduate and a member of All Saints Lutheran Church. He has been married to his wife, Kim for 23 years and they have two children, Corbin and Rose.
