Overview
On February 17, 2016, the City Council voted to combine the Public Safety, Health and Welfare Commission with the Public Works Commission to create the Public Services Commission. The Public Services Commission is a seven-member voluntary advisory group.
Purpose
- To identify, study and recommend to the City Council the needs for police protection, fire protection, emergency medical services, emergency management, and other public safety programs, the utilization of present public safety facilities and future facilities, as well as the:
- Construction
- Maintenance
- Planning
- Reconstruction
- Utilization of the community's public infrastructure, including the public works facilities
- To review public safety policy issues, as referred to the Commission by the City Council
- To recommend any action to the City Council on permits that involve public safety concerns or services, such as, but not limited to, events such as parades, carnivals, festivals, firework demonstrations, and special events liquor licenses
- To study and make recommendations to the City Council regarding policies related to the planning, construction, reconstruction, maintenance, and utilization of the community's public infrastructure. The Commission shall also study and make recommendations regarding public works facilities.
- To study any other such matters as are directed to it by the City Council
