RAISE Grant Application: County Road 19A & 100th Street Realignment Project
About
A 2019 Washington County study examined the lack of roadways to serve new development and address congestion at Jamaica Avenue and Highway 61.The study provided a recommended route for the future arterial roadway. Once completed, this project will establish 100th Street S as the Southwest Arterial connection necessary to open over 2,000 acres of developing approved industrial and residential projects while supporting existing businesses such as Renewal by Anderson, Up North Plastics, Air Gas, American Logistic Services, and 3M. The area’s planned developments, which this project is intended to support, will provide an estimated 2,200 new jobs, and add 15,000 more residents.
The city is seeking grant funding to:
Realign County Road 19A and 100th Street to create an alternate connection to US Highway 61.
Redesign the roadway to improve safety and better accommodate bike and pedestrian traffic.
Construct a railroad bridge to reduce dangerous at-grade rail crossings.
