Cottage Grove residents are invited to participate in a Facebook LIVE Budget Q&A session. On Wednesday, Aug. 22, from 3 to 3:30 p.m., the city’s finance director and city administrator will present information on the city’s proposed 2019 budget. Questions such as the size of the city’s budget, where money comes from for the budget, and what services the budget provides citizens will be answered.

Anyone with a computer, smartphone or tablet can participate. Visit the city’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CottageGroveMinnesota at the scheduled start time. Participants need to click the video to make the sound happen. Questions and comments can be typed in at any time during the live event. The city invites residents to submit their questions ahead of time by sending an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by Aug. 21. The video will remain on the city’s Facebook page and can be viewed after the event ends.

The 2019 tax levy is proposed to increase by $460,000, or three percent. The Cottage Grove City Council will adopt the preliminary levy and budget at their Sept. 5 meeting. The final budget and levy is adopted in December.
